The Gulyas Sisters' Trip to Hungary
Passport (1937)
Travel document issued by the US Department of State to Elizabeth Gulyas and her sister, Irene M. (see photo of sisters in page 4).
The Passport was used during the trip of the two sisters home to Hungary in 1937. (Note the restriction that the "passport was not valid for travel in SPAIN" due to the ongoing civil war). They travelled by ship to Hamburg, (nazi) Germany and arrived June 28, 1937 and travelled via Czechoslovakia to Hungary, where they entered in Szob on June 29th (see stamp) and paid $61 to customs. They left Hungary again on August 23 and departed on August 26 from Germany.
